ECCMID 2017 Media Policy

The organizers of the 27th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID 2017) from 22 – 25 April 2017 in Vienna, Austria, welcome the press and are happy to provide assistance to journalists attending the congress or those using the congress website as a resource in their coverage.

Registration
The congress is open to bona fide representatives of print, broadcast and electronic media. Registration is free to journalists who are in possession of a valid, recognized press card. Freelance journalists must present a commissioning letter on headed paper from a recognized news organisation or publication, together with examples of previous, by-lined articles. Business cards are not acceptable.

Embargoes
Please respect embargo times and dates on news stories.
It is planned that the large majority of the congress abstracts will go online on 12 April 2017 at eccmidlive.org and can be reported from that time onwards. Some abstracts will be embargoed to coincide with the times they are presented at the congress. Embargo times and dates will be clearly marked on all press releases (also those from third parties). When asking for outside comment on releases before the embargo has lifted, journalists are requested to ensure that those consulted understand and accept the embargo conditions. ESCMID reserves the right to ban from the congress any journalist who breaks the embargoes or contravenes this media policy in any other way.

Third-party press events
Companies wishing to organize a news conference or any other event for the media during the congress should send a request in writing to the ESCMID communications manager. The programme, invitations and press releases sent out by any third party must be submitted to and agreed by ESCMID before the congress. Third-party press material may be displayed outside the Press Centre.
